Vacation 2k11: Lancaster, PA

We each had something we really wanted to do on this trip.  For Dad, it was to relax and read a book for at least 3 days.  For me, it was to go to Newport, RI and tour the mansions.  And for mom...well mom wanted to see a play at the reknown Sight and Sound Theater.  If you've never heard of this theater, it is an enormous theater that produces shows based off a character in the Bible.  It's pretty much like Bible Broadway.  But it's so cool!  I mean you've got the music, the costumes, the set, Joseph flying over your head...everything is really well done!  If you're ever close by to Lancaster, defnitely check it out!

The play we got to see was the story of Joseph.  It was phenomenal!  The curtain arose to Joseph telling his many brothers about all the dreams God had given and his brothers' reaction by selling him off and closed with Joseph, his wife, and sons reuniting with Joseph's dad and brothers.  What happens in between you'll have to either 1. read it in the Bible or 2. go see the play for yourself.  I would suggest both. I feel like I know the story of Joseph SO much better now just because of this play.  Anyways, enough about the play...I could go on for days!

Before the play we went to a smorgesboard restaurant, The Hershey Farm Inn and Restaurant.  I had never experience a smorgasbord before, but I came to find out it was pretty much like a buffet.  Big whoop!  But eating delicious Amish bread made the smorgasbord restaurant definitely worth it!

My absolute favorite part of Lancaster? Seeing all the traffic having to hault and go around the Amish people riding their horses and carriages on their special lane in the road! So cool!

Here are some pictures from our quick trip to Lancaster!

It's kind of hard to read, but so funny!  Also, look up the 7 ingredients in Deut. 8:8...I don't think you'll want to eat it after you know what's in it!
Tomorrow's stop: Glen Cove, New York on Long Island!
